چکیده

Brain–computer interface (BCI)-guided robot-assisted training strategy has been increasingly applied to stroke rehabilitation, while few studies have investigated the neuroplasticity change and functional reorganization after intervention from multimodality neuroimaging perspective. The present study aims investigate hemodynamic electrophysical changes induced by BCI using magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) electroencephalography (EEG) respectively, as well relationship between neurological motor function improvement. Fourteen chronic subjects received 20 sessions of BCI-guided robot hand training. Simultaneous EEG fMRI data were acquired before immediately intervention. Seed-based connectivity for resting-state effective analysis processed reveal interaction different brain regions. Moreover, among improvement, changes, derived two modalities was also investigated. This work suggested that (a) significant improvement could be obtained therapy, (b) effect significantly correlated with ipsilesional M1 (iM1) contralesional Brodmann area 6 (including premotor (cPMA) supplementary (SMA)) fMRI, (c) information flow cPMA iM1 strongly SMA EEG, (d) consistency results illustrated correlation change. Our showed in therapy survivors provided a better understanding neural mechanisms, especially motor-related regions during recovery. Besides, our finding demonstrated feasibility combining multiple

fMRI as a molecular imaging procedure for the functional reorganization of motor systems in chronic stroke

Previous brain imaging studies suggest that stroke alters functional connectivity in motor execution networks. Moreover, current understanding of brain plasticity has led to new approaches in stroke rehabilitation. Recent studies showed a significant role of effective coupling of neuronal activity in the SMA (supplementary motor area) and M1 (primary motor cortex) network for motor outcome in p...

Effects of Task Related Training and Hand Dominance on Upper Limb Motor Function in Subjects with Stroke

Objetives: Recovery of upper limb motor function in stroke is limited. Different approaches are used to improve the upper limb function, but none has satisfactory results. The present study investigated the effect of task related training and role of hand dominance in upper limb motor function rehabilitation in stroke population. Methods: A convenient sample of 32 subjects divided into 4 gro...

A tensor-based scheme for stroke patients' motor imagery EEG analysis in BCI-FES rehabilitation training.

BACKGROUND Stroke is one of the most common disorders among the elderly. A practical problem in stroke rehabilitation systems is that how to separate motor imagery patterns from electroencephalographic (EEG) recordings. There is a sharp decline in performance of these systems when classical algorithms, such as Common Spatial Pattern (CSP), are directly applied on stroke patients. NEW METHOD W...

Decreased Functional Connectivity of Homotopic Brain Regions in Chronic Stroke Patients: A Resting State fMRI Study.

The recovery of motor functions is accompanied by brain reorganization, and identifying the inter-hemispheric interaction post stroke will conduce to more targeted treatments. However, the alterations of bi-hemispheric coordination pattern between homologous areas in the whole brain for chronic stroke patients were still unclear. The present study focuses on the functional connectivity (FC) of ...

Comparison of Effects of Bilateral Versus Unilateral Quadriceps Training on Balance, Functional Mobility and Functional Gait in Patients With Stroke

Objectives: Motor weakness is a notable symptom after stroke. Hence, the aim of this study was to find out the effect of bilateral quadriceps training compared to that of unilateral quadriceps training on balance, functional mobility and functional gait in patients with stroke. Subjects: Male and female hemiparetic patients between 40-60 years of age with post-stroke of 1-6 months were included...
